The type of fans that we are trying to aim our teaser trailer at are diehard action fans that enjoy the thrill of action films. Conducting researching on the web into the audience base of similar products we found out that these fans are mostly male and are aged between 12-25. Using inventive camera angles is one way that we hope that our teaser will attract this audience.
Our film is not only directed at diehard action fans however, but those fans that enjoy mysterious thrillers. We are going to use a montage within our trailer which will demonstrate the diverse nature of our film in a short space of time. This will attract the audience as it will show different scenes from the movie. The use of hybrid genres will hopefully entice a wider audience and will show that there is something for everyone. We will try and use a variety of shots in our montage and also quick cuts to build up tension and maintain intensity. We will use shots including close ups, crane shots, and high angle shots so that the teaser will be visually interesting and exciting.
The teaser trailer for Inception used the similar techniques and the first time we watched this teaser we were all eager to see what this film has to offer us. Also, We were eager to understand the mystery behind the film’s plot which was represented through the use of voice over and titles. We do not want our film to be a typical cliché action film but unique in the sense of the plot and themes of the film being original. Like the Inception teaser, we hope to use titles and a voice over to narrate the plot of our film to our audience and give them an insight on what the film may be about.

We are aiming our teaser trailer at the middle class and working class because from our research we found that most upper class people are less likely to take an interest in the films, opting instead to go to the ballet or theatre for example/. Middle class and working class people however are more likely to engage with popular culture and visit the cinemas and buy DVDs, so this is why it is important that our film is directed to them. We will use characters that they can identify with (i.e. from the same class) and use language that they will understand and themes they will be interested in.
We decided to give our teaser trailer rating of 12A as it contains some violent scenes which may not be suitable for children under 12 unless accompanied by an adult. However, keeping the rating low will mean that we maximise the potential number of audience members who come and see it.
